The Irvington Iris is Blooming!!

Bloomz is up and doing business in its great new location! You are invited to stop by and see the progress being made in the creation of "The Irvington Iris Tea Room" and meeting space for residents and friends of Irvington. A sign-up sheet is now available for reserving your place at our Grand Opening Soiree on October 9th.

While paint dries and furniture is put in place lots of planning is being done as well. Miranda has been inspired by her love of flowers to include them as much as possible in the tea room. The Iris plans to use flowering teas that are hand-sewn individual tea leaves combined with delicate flowers that unfurl when placed into boiling water. Flowering teas dance and brew while the flower blooms - delightful! Also, a collection of black, green and white teas, tea blends and herbal teas will be available to please tea enthusiasts.

A frequent guest at the Tea Room will be Irvington resident Helga Horvath who will share her knowledge of antiques and art with our patrons. Born and raised in Germany, Helga brings her love of the garden, caring for the environment and enjoyment of music and good food to the shop.

Roll With It Bakery, located close by at 5539 East Washington Street, will be the main supplier of the "Iris" baked goods, and will provide a mini-assortment of their wonderful scones, muffins and cookies to compliment tea offerings. Watch for other "goodies" to include chocolates from a local confectioner, delectable German tea breads and speciality cakes.

Just wait until you see the beautiful antiques gracing the Iris. All are for sale, but it's absolutely free to come in and admire them! Free WiFi, great atmosphere, delicious treats and lovely teas, coupled with plenty of off-street parking, are sure to make The Iris a favorite meeting place. Make sure to stop by the Second Saturday of each month to enjoy the *special-tea* features Miranda has planned. You might hear a lecture on the Etiquette of Teas, hear local musicians, or learn about the Language of Flowers. The Iris is available for meetings such as church, community, writer's and women's groups. Also, special events such as showers, retirement/birthday parties, and of course your special 'Tea'! There has been great interest in the meeting space, so call soon to reserve your day and time. Miranda is looking forward to hosting your group.
